The Kyleena coil is a smaller Mirena (IUD or IUS). The Kyleena IUD coil is a small, flexible plastic T shaped intrauterine device, which contains a smaller dose of the progestogen hormone Levonorgestrel on the stem. This is the contraceptive. Its contraceptive action is to stop implantation and thicken mucus production in the cervix.
I have used this small coil for over five years and find it to be highly effective in particular for women who have not given birth.
The Kyleena Coil is a hormone releasing IUD that helps prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years.
The Kyleena UID has an effectivity rate of over 99% whereas the Mirena Coil has a 98.5% prevention rate.
There are always risks with any type of preventative contraception. Sometimes the Kyleena IUD can cause spotting or bleeding. Nick Morris and his team will be able to help your through any complications that may arise after the fitting of this coil.
With Kyleena IUD, you may feel some cramping or pain. Local anaesthetic can be provided to ease the pain.
The process can take up to ten minutes to fit, by a highly experienced gynaecologist such as Mr Morris. It can be provisioned and fitted with a single appointment.
