Covid vaccines: A reality check

Governments around the world have created an expectation that a vaccine will become available in the not too distant future. Is this realistic? If so how likely is it that a vaccine will be effective, and might it actually mask infections allowing more transmission? If we do have a good vaccine do we have the capacity to make enough of it and who should be prioritised to receive it. Finally if the vaccine is developed in one country how do we ensure equity in its distribution throughout the world. Can Covid be controlled without total global immunisation?
